Guatemala, Rio Dulce: Thieves Attempt to Steal Hoisted Dinghy

Two individuals in a kayak were thwarted in their attempt to steal a locked dinghy that was hoisted in the davits of a vessel anchored at Livingston in the mouth of the Rio Dulce in Guatemala.

STOLEN ITEMS: Attempted theft of dinghy/outboard while hoisted in stern davits. Painter was cut.

SECURED: Locked

DETAILS: 

Owners anchored in Livingston heard a bump against the hull. The captain went topsides and found the painter on the hoisted (davits) and locked dinghy had been cut. The two individuals in an unlit kayak who were attempting to board paddled away quickly. A report was made to the Port Captain.
